Student names and class lists

The team randomizer, the seating chart generator and “My classes” work entirely in your browser. Names you type or paste, saved classes and your last seating chart are kept in this browser’s own storage (localStorage) on this device, so they’re there next time. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. To remove them, delete the classes on the home page, use “Clear names and chart”, or clear this site’s data in your browser. On a shared computer, remove them when you finish.

The noise meter and your microphone

The classroom noise meter asks your browser for the microphone only when you press Start. It measures how loud the sound is and throws the sound away. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent. The microphone turns off when you press Stop or leave the page.

Timers and calculators

Timers and the grade calculator run in your browser. Your settings (such as the timer sound or your grading scale) are remembered in this browser only. The scores you enter aren’t sent anywhere.

Visitor statistics

We use Google Analytics to see which pages are used and how visitors find the site. It uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser, and the site that sent you. When you use a tool, it records only that a tool was used, never names, scores or settings. We look at these statistics only as totals. See the Google Privacy Policy; you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Children

TeacherTray is for teachers and other adults. Students may see the tools on a classroom screen, but the site doesn’t ask them for anything, and there are no ads.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message. The form is delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms (see the Web3Forms privacy policy). We use what you send only to reply to you. Please don’t include students’ names.

Hosting and security

The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Terms of use

The tools are free for classroom and personal use and are provided as is. Check grades against your school’s own grading policy, and don’t rely on the noise meter as a sound level meter. We aren’t responsible for decisions made with the tools. The text, drawings and tools are © 2026 TeacherTray.
